Christmas 2023

35 cross-shaped decorations I made over the holidays arranged in a cross shape.
While making these decorations, I enjoyed creating nightly arrangements on my dining room table.
I also enjoyed showing these at the Schoharie Library Schoharie Library Local Author Book Fair on 12/9/23.

These are part of my Puzzle Box project. See: Puzzle Boxes to learn about Puzzle Boxes.

November 30th, 2023 Post

For the third straight holiday season, I have assumed the role of a present-making Elf at Santa’s workshop in Summit, NY. I will be making gifts for people who have supported me on my mission of getting a job and going off disability.

The workshop is eco-friendly this year and won’t be cutting down any trees to make these unique wooden holiday decorations. The 108-piece Sphere Box is the origin of this year’s cross-shaped Puzzle Box designs.

The hand-painted decorations were actually scrap pieces cut out from the center of the biggest Sphere Box pieces (circled in photo below). These were also used to cut out smaller pieces because we don’t waste material at Santa’s workshop. Nor do we throw out scrap pieces, especially ones so interesting and representative of my Puzzle Box project.

The larger decorations are 14-piece Puzzle Boxes made out of Sphere Box pieces. Many of the pieces used to make these boxes were cut out from the single-piece decorations.

I hope people enjoy these as much as I have enjoyed making them and using them to decorate my dining room table.
