I am looking for remote software development opportunities. I don’t care much about titles or tech stacks, but I care a lot about making an impact.
This cover letter is for anyone looking for a talented and determined software engineer. I am interested in talking to anyone who thinks their company could be a great place for me to make an impact, and who agrees with the last sentence of my cover letter.
Cover Letter
Dear Sir/Madam:
My name is on my banner. So is the name of my book. According to Readers’ Favorite, “It will motivate and inspire you to stop saying you can’t and to believe that you can.” I can do a lot of things well, but I am best at writing software and solving problems.
I am interested in remote* software development opportunities. I am an unusually talented software engineer, demonstrated at doug-osborne.com/software. My passion for creating successful software has led to my experience in all aspects of software development.
When I worked in litigation support, I wrote a 200,000 code line Electronic Discovery solution that saved over $1M in licensing costs and tripled our data centers’ throughput. The enthusiastic response led to the formation of Minify, LLC to market this software. From there, I moved to a leading eDiscovery software company, Relativity, where I was the lead engineer of a development team created for my experience.
Later I took a break from eDiscovery software to pursue my own projects. One project began as a simple puzzle game, expanded to a series of four games, and evolved into a distributed processing application that creates unique artwork. For my darts project, I engineered the first solution to competitive darts that maximizes win expectancy, requiring millions of times the calculations as maximizing score.
While I enjoyed working on these projects, I feel I can do even better work solving challenging problems as part of a team. But the main reason you should talk to me is because my banner says “Doug Osborne DOES NOT QUIT.”
Sincerely,
Doug Osborne
