This is the 2nd box that I created as part of the Decorative Box Project. First my program created an 108 sided orthogonal polyhedron that approximates the shape of a sphere. Then it added finger joints to the sides so that they fit together. Next it created instructions for a CNC laser machine to cut out the pieces along with labels to aid with assembly. I then painted the pieces red, white and blue, and assembled them into the first sphere box above.
Later, I made another sphere box as a gift for my brother, an artist. For this box I gave each of the six sides (front/back/left/right/top/bottom) a unique color and finish.
