This is Doug Osborne, and I support John Fetterman for Pennsylvania U.S. Senate. I’m a software engineer that once had a successful career, but I became depressed in 2014 and as a result, I’m currently on Social Security Disability Insurance. I am now on a mission to get a remote software engineering position and go off of disability. The following banner will remain outside my house until I complete my mission:
My banner reminds me to keep fighting no matter how many times I get knocked down and feel like quitting. It’s also been a great training motivator for my other goal of competing in triathlons again.
I start every morning by going outside and looking at my banner and saying, “Not Today.” But the best part of my day is after I’ve worked hard on my mission and then finish my workout, because then I get to say it like “NOT TODAY!” because I did not quit today! Now I even have a “NOT TODAY!” sign out by my mailbox:
Like me, John Fetterman has been knocked down and has gotten back up. John Fetterman showed courage for going out there and debating with Dr. Oz, despite auditory processing issues due to his unfortunate stroke. While he received criticism for a few verbal slip ups, it hasn’t stopped John Fetterman from fighting for the people of Pennsylvania. Like me, John Fetterman DOES NOT QUIT no matter how many times he gets knocked down.
I also have no love for John’s opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz, despite the fact that being an Osborne, Oz is one of my nicknames. Unlike Dr. Oz, I’m a terrible liar, and telling people that I’m on disability during interviews might be why I’ve yet to succeed at my mission. Dr. Oz was once a promising young surgeon, but he sold out on television and became one of the biggest enemies of science-based medicine.
Unlike Dr. Oz, John Fetterman has integrity. Like me, John treats every person he meets with respect, regardless of their background. This is important to me because I’ve been successful and then subsequently disabled, and I’ve experienced the difference in the way I’ve been treated.
Now that I’ve worked hard to overcome my depression and am no longer disabled, I am doing everything in my power to become successful again. Since I hung my banner in May, I’ve applied for over 200 jobs, I’ve interviewed with 24 companies, and I’ve had two or more interviews with 14 of those companies. Twice I was expecting an offer letter only to receive yet another painful rejection letter.
I’ve been rejected so many times that it feels like I’ve been playing 1-on-1 with Shaquille O’Neal, but like John Fetterman, I keep picking myself back up to fight again.
With everything else I’ve accomplished since I began my mission, including buying my first house, getting back into shape and losing 30 pounds, I’ve earned the respect of many nice people who now support me, while I can tell that others won’t believe in me until I finally succeed. Unfortunately, people in the latter category can sometimes make it so much harder for a poor guy on disability fighting for a second chance at life.
John Fetterman supports me on my mission because he strongly believes in giving people second chances.
I support John Fetterman for U.S. Senate, because he’s not going to quit fighting for people like me who have been knocked down and need to get back up.
John Fetterman DOES NOT QUIT. Vote for Fetterman, because he’s not going to quit fighting for you today!
